Andrew[1] "Andy" Bouchard is the husband of Kristen Bouchard and father to four daughters: Lynn, Lila, Lexis, and Laura.
Personality[]
Andy, though more easy-going than his wife, still maintains a stoic fatherly image for his daughters. When it comes to protecting his household, Andy does not shy away from being firm and direct. When he and Kristen were awoken, by what later turns out to be a cat in their kitchen, Andy is seen grabbing an ice climbing pick to protect his family with while investigating the noise.
While abroad for his business, Andy has picked up Tibetan Buddhism. He's seen praying and chanting, and his daughters pick it up and were chanting together while Laura was in the hospital.
Andy loves Kristen very much. Due to his long absences from the Bouchard home, he struggles with Kristen's close relationship with Ben and David, worrying she may be having an affair with one of them. This is brought up in couples therapy where he asks Kristen directly whether or not she is cheating on him.
Appearance[]
Andy has greying hair and occasionally has a grown out beard when coming home from climbing in Nepal.
Character Biography[]
Andy owns a mountain climbing guiding and expedition company along with his wife, Kristen. While Kristen took upon herself the bulk of the parental duties, Andy provided income by working abroad as a professional mountaineering guide for wealthy clients. Andy's absence, along with Kristen's new job as an assessor for the Catholic Church, has put stress on the family and his relationship.
Acknowledging the toll his absence took, Andy made it a point to be at home more and maintain a more organized home. Part of this process was attempting to convince Kristen's mother Sheryl (who was serving as a supplementary parent in Andy's stead) to move out from the garage and to stop influencing the Bouchard children with her eccentric behavior.
This prompted Shery to enlist the help of Leland Townsend, in order to take Andy out of Kristen's life, as she felt Andy was in the way of both Kristen's happiness and Lexis Bouchard's eventual ascension to her natural role as head of a Demonic lineage on Earth.
Sheryl, Leland, and demonic forces conspire to have Andy lead one last expedition in Napal, under false pretenses. Begrudgingly, Andy goes to Napal unaware of the plot against him. He is then abducted, drugged, and imprisoned in Leland's apartment in a vegetative state. Leland, using deepfake technology, impersonates Andy on Zoom calls from base camp to trick Kristen into thinking all is well. They eventually plot to stage a fake avalanche to convince Kristen and her daughters that Andy was dead.
However, a prophetess working for the Holy See, named Grace Ling, tells one of the Bouchard girls that Andy would be coming home this coming Thursday. Grace draws a picture of the imprisoned Andy's surroundings, showing it to Kristen, though neither of them knows its significance. Sheryl sees the drawing, and reports back to Leland. Realizing that they are at risk of being exposed, they plot to kill Grace and enact their plans of staging a fake avalanche. Meanwhile, Kristen, against her better judgement, prays for the return of Andy.
Leland attempts to kill Grace, but is stopped by the Monsignor. His attempt to stage a fake avalanche is also compromised by the Bouchard girls becoming aware of something amiss. Prompted by his failures, Leland, not wanting the Bouchards to investigate further, returns Andy, albeit with no memory of his captivity, to the Bouchards, with a harrowed tale of surviving the avalanche.
Some time after his return, Andy was discovered in the middle of the night, staring at a foreign language written on the walls. He appeared to be sleepwalking, communicating vague phrases relating to being trapped. Kristen calls upon Sister Andrea, who subsequently discovers several demons residing in the Bouchard household.
